The Samba

Name of Dance:Samba
Origin: Of the popular Latin-American dances, the samba is undoubtedly the gayest and most lighthearted of all. It originated in Brazil where it gradually developed from a barbaric carnival dance into its present ballroom style. Its distinctive uneven rhythm gives it a smooth, tilting, rocking motion -- similar to the pendulum of a clock.
Meter:4/4
Count:1 2 3 (Quick Quick Slow)
Styling Notes: The samba has a distinctive style with its pendulum-like action (a smooth up-and-down, back-and-forth movement) that is caused by bending and straightening of the knees.
